INDIAN MEDIA AND ITS CHANGING FACES
Indian media is the one different from the media of all other countries. It is the one which reaches the hearts of people and have a direct relation with the people of the country. To fight the British rule and aware the people of India about the slavery, Media landed in India in late 1700s in the form of print. The next step in progress of media took place with the introduction of radio broadcasting followed by moving pictures in late 1800s.since then the media industry has been changing and prospering in the country. Earlier it was just a medium of spreading the most important news across the country, but gradually it also started using the entertainment part to grab the attention. And with those slow and gradual changes taking place from the last so many decades, today media has grown a very important part in the lives of people, and it is indispensable without the presence of media. In 2001 when the government relaxed the entry of numerous organizations to enter in the field of media, many changing were seen in the industry. With the introduction of numerous companies in the industry, media got more accessible to the people, the newspapers, TV Chanel, radio Chanels, magazines all grew drastically in number and people found it easier than ever to get information about anywhere on the globe sitting in their homes.
In the scenario of 21st century, the media industry has grown faster in providing their services to common man. Any incident happening in any corner of the world is delivered to the people in fraction of times, due to presence of modern tools and technologies, all the where about the incidents are made available on television, radio, newspaper and internet simulatneously.Whereas in the ancient times it used to take numerous hours and days to send the news of wars and fights across the borders. The media has grown faster with the passage of years. Next comes the accuracy of industry, in earlier times sending vast information, that too to far off places used to be a cumbersome process and created a lot of misunderstanding and confusion, but with the advanced media the things have been made more accurate and understandable to the audience. Unlike olden times now the information and news could be sent to a large number of people without any hindrances and faults. It has become cheaper for the people to have access to these mediums of getting connected to the media. There are
huge number of people who are behind the scenes working day and night to provide us with the news and enteratinment, which is opposite to the manual systems in which people used to use horses to go and spread the news around. The livelihood of the innumerous people working in the industry directly depends upon the media system. Now a days, entertainment is one of the major cause of people spending time on media.Songs, reality shows etc grab the attention of people on television, whereas fillers, jokes, talks entertain people through radio. Taking a view at newspapers, games like sudoku, kakuro, crosswords etc attract the readers. Usage of bright colors in television and newspapers make them more attractive than the ones which were black and white in the olden days. Another drastic change in the field of Indian media was brought in by the introduction of internet. Internet made it very very easy for the common man to be attached with the happenings of the world, accessing to the internet, common people could access to the whole world sitting at their palces. The news and information were available to the
people through internet, the newspaper are now a days published on the internet a night before they are delivered to the whole country. The searh engines like goole and yahoo can provide the information on any of the topic which exists in the world, which made internet gain popularity at very high speed in the indian market. The social networking sites like facebook, orkut, twitter changed the whole scenario of Indian media, these sites enables the people to get connected to their social circle and are a very important source of spreading information and news throughout the world. These media organizations spend huge amount of money on spreading the news and information to us, this money is recovered by the advertisements, this kind concept was never a part of Indian media earlier. Taking a look at the whole industry, we can see numerous changes that have taken place for the betterment and upliftment of media. These changes have made our Indian media more popular throughout the globe. With the advancement in this field people have started liking the media, and cannot survive without it. People of he country have made it their habit to be informed about the information from around the globe. The advancement of this field will never come to an end, as the aspirations and expectations of the viewers, readers and listeners would never come to an end. A full stop in the advancement of this industry will always be converted into a comma and new concepts will keep on arising for satisfaction of common man, because their longing for information will never come to an end.
